So much for being warm "inland". It was freakin' cold ... as low as 530. Even when the sun finally broke through the marine layer around San Jose it only got up to 730. I had to stop in Salinas after about 100 miles to have some coffee to warm up. I rolled into San Fran around 1, it's partly cloudy and comfy. This should also be the last major traffic I see until I get back tooooo ... Chicago area, I guess. 101 was a nice 4-lane ride until I got to San Jose when the lanes expanded to 30 something and they were all jammed with traffic. So I get in the right most lane doin' 90mph and the lane merges left. Then all of a sudden I'm in the left most lane ... just like going up Ritchie Hwy in Arnold and Severna Park. Thank goodness I'm slightly familiar with the ride around here otherwise I would have ended up in Severna Park.
For you trivial pursuit fans, Gilroy, CA is the self-proclaimed garlic capital of the world and was having their annual garlic festival. I was half expecting to see Doc Hollywood. Obviously I wasn't going to see Dracula. I was surprised because I didn't smell garlic. When you roll through Vacaville on I-80 heading to Sacramento you can smell onions for miles.
And, speaking of deja vue ... I'm just cruising along 101 around Salinas when I come to this section that I remember like yesterday. All I can think of is it is the way I used to go to Laguna Seca for the motorcycle races ... it's been 30 some years and I only went maybe 3 times! I need to look at some maps and figure it out. And weird or what, I took a picture and it didn't come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess it's time for ol' Snowfo to mosey up to the Voodoo Lounge and have some mind altering potions in preparation for ... The Return of Connie. Let's see, it's 5:30, she gets in at 1:30 ... it'll be cutting it close but this should work.
